In the song, Insomnia by The Hiatus, it uses literary devices like ambiguity, symbolism, and synecdoches, and symbolism to show a time where the singer remembers a friendship in which they were their savior.
The song begins with the singer talking about a time where he wakes from a nightmare that was so sweet, that it was haunting; "I wake up from a nightmare, where we had out best days. And wonder where it has gone wrong.". Despite the dreams being about good times, the singer is taunted by these memories because what he had is now gone, and this is becomes symbolism of the song. In these moments, the singer wonders what had happened to their relationship that had caused them to stop interacting with each other. The only thing that can be done is to, "Just keep up the prayer." meaning to pray, or ask God for forgiveness for what may have been the problem.
